Project manager Thomas Winkler from Gammel Engineering explained the project from a technical perspective. 2 gas engine CHP units, a large heat pump with renewable energy source Saalach as well as a power-to-heat plant and a large heat storage tank are the main components of the first expansion stage. In future, the clean and cost-effective heat will be transported to the customers via the heating network.Dr. Stefan Kellerbauer from the engineering company of the same name explained the use of the Saalach groundwater as a regenerative heat source with the heat pump. The water is cooled by 6 K via a heat exchanger and then fed back into the aquifer approx. 200 m downstream. Yesterday, a topping-out ceremony was held on the grounds of the B.B.W. St. Franziskus in Abensberg to celebrate the new inclusive Franziskus Children’s Center. Nine months after the groundbreaking, the building’s shell is complete, and the construction project is proceeding according to schedule.
