Project manager Thomas Winkler from Gammel Engineering explained the project from a technical perspective. 2 gas engine CHP units, a large heat pump with renewable energy source Saalach as well as a power-to-heat plant and a large heat storage tank are the main components of the first expansion stage. In future, the clean and cost-effective heat will be transported to the customers via the heating network.Dr. Stefan Kellerbauer from the engineering company of the same name explained the use of the Saalach groundwater as a regenerative heat source with the heat pump. The water is cooled by 6 K via a heat exchanger and then fed back into the aquifer approx. 200 m downstream.
