"Our family is on the sunny side of life," says Gudrun Gammel, explaining her commitment to the Cabrini-Haus in Abensberg. "It's important for me to be there for vulnerable people and to support them. I support the Cabrini-Haus because I know that help goes to the right place before I simply donate to an account. Time is a valuable commodity for all of us, but the time I spend at Cabrini House is time well spent and the best way to say thank you is the smiles and beaming faces that come back from the residents." Cabrini-Haus Offenstetten cares for children and young people with special educational needs, partial learning disabilities, developmental delays, mental disabilities and children with severe and multiple disabilities who require special care.
The collaboration came about when the Gammel company wanted to support Cabrini House with the proceeds from the raffle at the Christmas party in 2005. The former director of the facility, Sister Sieglinde, remembers the handover of the donation very well: "I wanted to show Mr. Gammel and his employee Mr. Göttfried where their donation was going and went with them to one of our groups," says the 70-year-old nun. "Our children, with their natural manner, immediately won the two gentlemen over. The two hours flew by. On leaving, Mr. Gammel said that he would like to get involved here. And it didn't take long for it to become a reality."In the first meetings, it was decided to found a circle of friends rather than a support association. "We are not primarily interested in donations, but in friends who support us," explains Sister Sieglinde. "And we have indeed developed very good friendships over the years - especially with the Gammel family. They are a real blessing for Cabrini House."The circle of friends and the extensive network of the Gammel family have already made a difference: "In addition to the financial support, it is also our good reputation that is spread further. This has been strengthened by the increased publicity of the Circle of Friends and we are very pleased about this," says the former director. On the one hand, the Cabrini House Circle of Friends collects donations. In August, for example, each child receives 15 euros pocket money from the Circle of Friends for their annual vacation. "It's a great joy for the children when they can buy their own ice cream," says Gudrun Gammel. "We also support purchases that cannot be financed by the sponsor, such as a PC with an internet connection for each house." On the other hand, the circle of friends also stands for active support: "The residents are always invited to our charity events and it's just wonderful how enthusiastically these people with disabilities follow a concert, for example, and join in," says Gudrun Gammel
The authorized signatory of Gammel Engineering has taken over the chairmanship of the Circle of Friends. "By setting up the circle of friends, we have thrown a stone into the water that continues to spread - the best we could achieve. The golf tournament Promi-AM by BR presenter Tom Meiler is another circle." The presenter has now organized a VIP golf tournament for the 4th time, the proceeds of which go to the Cabrini House.
Sister Sieglinde was the director of Cabrini House for 27 years: "When I was asked, I was a little scared of the big task - but looking back, we managed it very well together and I am grateful to God," says the nun, who completed a social year at Cabrini House as a young girl. The Sister of the Cross has now passed on the operational reins to Dr. Bernhard Resch, but she is still involved in the house and the circle of friends.
Dr. Resch now heads the Cabrini-Zentrum-Offenstetten, which is divided into the Cabrini House, the Cabrini School and a meeting center. The facility is run by Katholische Jugendfürsorge der Diözese Regensburg e.V. "For our children and young people, the Cabrini House is a seven-day boarding school," explains the director. "For our adult section, we offer a differentiated range of residential options inside and outside the facility, including outpatient assisted living." The home currently cares for 92 children and young people and 104 adults - particularly from the Lower Bavaria and Upper Palatinate regions. "We give the children and young people as well as the adults special support. As far as possible, we prepare them for an independent life: There is a workshop, an outside work group, the town of Abensberg employs people from the Cabrini House."The Cabrini House was founded in 1946 and has been run by the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross ever since. Initially, it was an infant and toddler home for orphaned refugee children. In the 1950s, the home developed into a facility for children and young people with developmental delays and disabilities. Since 1986, it has also been possible to stay at Cabrini House as an adult. The home was named after the Italian-American nun Franziska Xaviera Cabrini, who was canonized in 1946. "The first warriors moved into the house on 7 July 1946 - that was the day Franziska Xaviera Cabrini was canonized," explains Dr. Resch

Rising energy and raw material prices can be counteracted by using sustainable energy technologies and thus reducing CO2 emissions. This not only significantly reduces cost explosions, but also reduces your own ecological footprint. Pioneers in the dairy industry are also focusing on this.
