Description
We planned and implemented a state-of-the-art biomass cogeneration plant for the Siat Braun Group's sawmill and pellet plant in Urmatt - a real highlight in the circular economy. The plant uses all of the wood waste from production and generates both electricity and heat - in line with the principles of sustainable industry.
Performance at the highest level:
We designed a steam power plant with 3 MW of electrical output, which has been running reliably since 2009. The 25 t/h of steam generate cost-effective electricity via a backpressure turbine, while thermal energy is fed directly into the drying and pellet production process. This allows us to convert industrial waste heat with maximum energy efficiency - typical top-level combined heat and power generation.
➤ Efficiency & effect:
- Power: 3 MW el., coupled with customized steam technology
- Fully integrated into the sawmill processes - waste becomes raw material
- System for regional value creation from wood waste - CO₂-neutral and economically strong
Our planning approach? Holistic, well thought-out and open to the future - we have tailored the system technology precisely to the needs of production and at the same time created maximum security of supply. The result is energy self-sufficiency with residual value: an outstanding Gammel project that shows how engineering works.
