Description
With the construction of a new biomass heating plant and the development of a urban district heating network, Stadtwerke Treuchtlingen and Holzenergie Treuchtlingen GmbH are consistently investing in the local heat transition.
Gammel Engineering was largely responsible for planning, concept development and technical implementation.
🔧 Highlights of our solution:
- Sustainable heating energy from natural wood - regional, low CO₂ and reliable
- District heating route over approx. 800 m in the first expansion stage
- Supplying central facilities: hospital, elementary school, kindergarten, retirement home, nursing home as well as urban housing and private households
- Power peaks are cushioned via buffer storage to ensure grid stability and efficiency
💡 Why Treuchtlingen is a model project:
The project shows how communal energy supply can be put on a regenerative footing - through a strong network of municipal utilities, private wood energy and technical expertise.
Heat from biomass thus becomes the backbone of a climate-friendly infrastructure.
