Feldkirchen-Westerham Machbarkeitsstudie Fernwärme in der Gemeinde

Description

Together with the municipality of Feldkirchen-Westerham, we carried out an extensive feasibility study in 2014 to establish a publicly operated local heating supply. We not only checked which heat suppliers were available - in particular the industrial waste heat from Neenah-Gessner - but also calculated the possibility of other energy sources to ensure maximum security of supply.

Our analysis covered several heat supply scenarios: from industrial waste heat utilization to biomass or gas peak load boilers to flexible system adaptation if required. We took into account both technical feasibility and economic aspects as well as funding conditions - so that alternatives are immediately available even if industrial waste heat is no longer used.

The result of our study is a reliable decision-making framework for the municipality: systemic comparisons of variants, expansion roadmap and cost structure - with a realistic investment estimate of around €7.6 million and 40 %. We thus laid the foundation on which the municipal council was able to unanimously give the green light - supported by municipal experts, the mayor and the district administration office.

💡 The special thing about our approach: We think of local heating not just as a technology, but as a strategic instrument of municipal climate protection policy - modular, economical, anchored in people.
