Dingolfing BMW Group Abwärmenutzung für die Härterei

Description

With the aim of becoming active in the context of energy-saving potential, the BMW Group commissioned Gammel Engineering with a technically precise investigation of waste heat utilization for the hardening shop in Dingolfing. Three hardening furnaces were intensively examined as potential heat suppliers. Our experts carried out exhaust gas temperature and volume flow measurements during each hardening cycle and thus mapped the available exhaust gas potential - point by point and technically to the point.

In the second step, various waste heat utilization strategies were developed, evaluated and subjected to a feasibility check. The central prerequisite here was the targeted regulation of false air mixed in with burner exhaust gases - the basis of every efficient solution. The following application scenarios were analyzed: Generation of hot water via exhaust gas heat exchangers for feeding into the plant network, heating of process water for a nearby component washing machine, production of absorption cooling through direct exhaust gas utilization and direct component preheating.

The result: Gammel Engineering provided BMW with a reliable, engineering-proven basis for decision-making with variant analysis, system design and economic evaluation. This once again sent a clear signal: for technical excellence, data-based consulting and impact down to the last detail. A masterfully planned waste heat recovery system that shows how Industry 4.0 - with sustainable engineering performance - becomes a reality.
