Description
The Altötting biomass heating plant supplies private, commercial and public buildings with heat via an extensive district heating network. In the second expansion stage, completed in 2005, a further biomass boiler based on thermal oil was installed in addition to the existing biomass boiler based on hot water. An oil-fired hot water boiler is used as a reserve and peak load boiler. A gas-fired hot water boiler is also used as a summer load boiler. The two biomass boilers convert the energy bound in the fuel into heat. The hot flue gases generated in the process transfer their energy to thermal oil, which is used to generate electricity in the downstream ORC process, and to the district heating water. To increase the efficiency of the flue gas cleaning system, a wet electrostatic precipitator is installed downstream of the flue gas condensation system
