Michael Gammel, Managing Director of Naturenergie Hersbruck, gave an insight into the new technologies that make the heating plant in Hersbruck a lighthouse project for the combined generation of heat and electricity from fresh wood chips.
The heating plant is now in trouble-free continuous operation. A milestone for which the long-standing energy partnership with Fackelmann Therme was fundamental and necessary. Naturenergie Hersbruck has been a full heat supplier for the thermal spa from the very beginning and now also supplies other customers such as the tax office, commercial and residential buildings in the surrounding area.
Richard Sperber, Chairman of the Board of Forstbetriebsgemeinschaft Nürnberger Land w.V., pointed out the importance of the plant for the regional economy: The wood chips that the heating plant burns to generate energy come one hundred percent from farms in the region; in addition, the construction of the planned office building next to the energy plant will create jobs for the region.Mayor Robert Ilg emphasized the sustainable bilateral cooperation between Naturenergie Hersbruck and Frankenalb Therme: Without the thermal spa, the Naturenergie plant would never have existed - which is why the energy partnership is important in order to achieve positive results on both sides
Heat consumption by the Fackelmann Therme will continue to be a key factor in the future, as a further increase in the plant's efficiency is planned, for which the waste heat from the gas turbine will also be used to generate electricity. As planned, an ORC turbine will be added in the next construction phase to generate electricity.

Rising energy and raw material prices can be counteracted by using sustainable energy technologies and thus reducing CO2 emissions. This not only significantly reduces cost explosions, but also reduces your own ecological footprint. Pioneers in the dairy industry are also focusing on this.
