Episode 1 - Family
For Michael Gammel, the Gammel Group is not just a company, but also a family. And his family is actively involved in the form of his wife Gudrun Gammel. So tell me, Mr. Gammel. What is it actually like to work with your wife?
In a small medium-sized company, the wife's commitment is a key success factor. Over the past 25 years, my wife has always "kept my back free" for me and my colleagues in the Managing Director team, so that I could first take care of the technology, our engineering services and, for years now, increasingly take care of strategic development.
You've heard the saying: "Behind every successful man is a strong woman." I am convinced that there is a lot of truth in this statement. Of course, the company also keeps us busy outside of office hours and we discuss current issues. I think the separation between work and free time is fatal - anyone who needs two schedulers has a strained relationship either to what they do most of the time during their waking hours and which should therefore not be a burden but a joy and fulfillment - or they have the area of tension in their "free time".
A person who enjoys fulfilling their professional tasks can also talk about them with friends or acquaintances or reflect on a current topic in a leisure time - without making it a permanent topic. In addition to our professional challenge, my wife and I have shared interests such as active membership of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, the Buchhof Wine Knights and a love of the Languedoc and long-distance travel. But there is also room for my own interests - my wife likes to play golf (I don't yet have the necessary personal maturity for this...), I have been enjoying a week with friends fishing for salmon in Alaska or the occasional ride on my bike for years.

Rising energy and raw material prices can be counteracted by using sustainable energy technologies and thus reducing CO2 emissions. This not only significantly reduces cost explosions, but also reduces your own ecological footprint. Pioneers in the dairy industry are also focusing on this.
Some people are simply indispensable in a company - Thomas "Tom" Winkler is one of them. He started with us around 25 years ago as a young engineer and grew from project manager to project manager to authorized signatory. With a great deal of passion and dedication, he has become a permanent fixture in our management team. But above all, Tom is a real team player who always has an open ear, is always willing to help and makes everyday life easier with his good humor.
