"3 questions for.... our working student Andreas Westermeier
How do you benefit as a working student at Gammel Engineering?
My expectations after a six-week pre-study internship have all been confirmed: I can put my theoretical knowledge from my studies into practice at Gammel Engineering; at the same time, I benefit from the in-depth practical experience in the company, which I later deal with and intensify in detail at OTH. For me, there are perfect synergies between practice and studies.
What does that look like in concrete terms?
As a working student, I am part of project development. In particular, the upstream area between acquisition and economic feasibility studies before the project is transferred to the planning phase is of great benefit to me as a student. Outstanding in my time at Gammel Engineering so far, for example, was a profitability analysis, the feasibility study with regard to self-supply with electricity and heat and the comparison with the conditions of a district heating connection.
What are you personally doing to combat climate change?
I try to live more consciously. I make sure I buy regional products. And of course, after completing my degree in renewable energy technology, I want to make my contribution to the climate transition with lots of projects. Here at Gammel Engineering, I am given the necessary practical tools.
