Adsorption chiller

The adsorption chiller works in a very similar way to an absorption chiller. In contrast to the absorption chiller, the adsorption chiller uses a solid solvent and the 4 phases for cold generation are spatially divided into 4 chambers. The operating principle is identical to that of an absorption chiller: First, the adsorbent is dried by applying heat. The water vapor released in the process is removed and liquefied via a condenser. After the heat has been dissipated, the upper valve of the left chamber closes and the lower valve opens. The dried adsorbent adsorbs the water vapor and cold water is produced. The water vapor is then separated in the condenser and the process starts again. In the functional diagram shown, 2 chambers are operated counter-cyclically so that a continuous process can be guaranteed.
