Description
In Train, the existing elementary school at Schulweg 3 was extensively renovated and extended during ongoing operations. The work was carried out in three construction phases - with the aim of raising the building to a sustainable level in terms of both energy efficiency and functionality.
Gammel Engineering was responsible for planning the entire technical building equipment (TBE).

- BA 1: Dismantling of the old roof structure and addition of a new 2nd floor .
- BA 2: Restructuring of the first floor with break hall and lunch supervision
- BA 3: Refurbishment and adaptation of the existing rooms on the first floor
A particular focus was placed on adapting the existing installations to the structural and energy-related changes. For example, heating surfaces in the classrooms had already been replaced in advance, which continued to be used during the refurbishment and were integrated into the new system.
The static heating surfaces were retained for the extension and the heating and sanitary pipes were completely replaced. Attention was paid to a resource-saving routing: The existing pipe ducts were deliberately reused to minimize interference with the building fabric and shorten the construction time.
