Description
In the Hochwegfeld development area, Stadtwerke Straubing implemented a sustainable local heating project with the support of Gammel Engineering. The aim was to establish a sustainable and convenient heating system - without any effort on the part of the users.
🔧 Project overview & technology:
- The local heating supply is based on geothermal energy from a depth of around 800 m with 36 °C thermal water, processed via heat pumps and peak boilers
- The network was completed in 2002 and has been continuously expanded since then - today it supplies schools, the town hall and private households
- The Hochwegfeld area is one of the most important new development areas with high connection potential
🌱 Benefits for all involved:
- Low investment and little space required by end customers - no need for their own heating technology
- Low-emission heat supply with a high level of convenience and security of supply thanks to 24-hour service
- Transparent pricing models - heat is billed according to consumption, not the efficiency of individual heating systems
💡 Why the project is typically Gammel:
- Intelligent linking of renewable heat source (geothermal energy), efficient technology and citizen benefits
- Supply system that reliably and conveniently opens up new development areas
- Collaboration with municipal utilities for sustainable, communal infrastructure - exactly the Gammel trademark
