Description
In the heart of Regensburg, the new biomass heating plant of the Katharinenspitalstiftung provides a heat supply that is both traditional and future-oriented. Since the conversion, the hospital brewery, the senior citizens' center, the restaurant and other properties of the foundation have been supplied by a renewable, regional energy source - sustainable, economical and COâ‚‚-saving.
The new heating center was carefully integrated into an existing building of the brewery - a successful example of the combination of listed building fabric with modern, climate-friendly energy technology.
🔧 Technology at a glance:
- 450 kW grate firing with hot water boiler, operated with untreated wood
- Over 92% of the total heat requirement is covered by renewable energy
- 610 tons of wood chips per year from the region replace around 240,000 mÂł of natural gas or heating oil
- COâ‚‚ savings: approx. 350 t/a - active climate protection in the old town
đź’ˇ Why this project is convincing:
- Regional & sustainable: Fuel from the region - value creation remains local
- Efficient & sustainable: High coverage rate through renewable energy - economically attractive
- Integrated & sensitively implemented: Technology meets tradition - optimally embedded in the brewery ensemble
- Gammel Engineering - we make regenerative heat supply visible, tangible and reliable.
