Description
For Stelmet S.A., Europe's third largest manufacturer of pressure-impregnated garden timber, we have planned and implemented a powerful ORC biomass cogeneration plant in Jeleniów. The plant uses the sawdust produced in the factory - automatically conveyed, dried via belt dryers with 10 MW + 7 MW - before it is fed to the pellet presses.
🔧 Our technical solution:
- Biomass boilers with 2×5.7 MW + 10 MW thermal output supply process heat and heat thermal oil for ORC power generation (1.6 MW electric). All waste heat is then fed into a 20 MW hot water network - for drying and production heat.
- Comprehensive planning of the energy chain: from automatic chip logistics and thermal processes to the ORC turbine and return to the heating network.
- TGA and approval planning, including I&C architecture, safety concepts and plant interfaces - technically precise and legally robust.
💡 What makes the project strong:
- Resource-saving use of production waste - full circular economy in the plant.
- Double energy use - heat for production + electricity into the grid: maximum efficiency.
- Future-proof remuneration security thanks to EEG-compliant electricity production.
- Overall technical integration - we deliver the solution that combines productivity and energy efficiency.
Conclusion: With the ORC power plant at Stelmet, we show how industry and energy technology can merge perfectly: sustainable, innovative and loaded with expertise. Gammel Engineering - we rethink energy - and build solutions that work.
