Description
The ecoQuartier Pfaffenhofen is one of the most ambitious and consistent urban district developments in Germany - an urban development concept that intelligently combines ecology, economy and social responsibility. At the center: a holistic energy supply concept that relies entirely on renewable energy sources - anchored as a principle from the outset.
Gammel Engineering was commissioned by ecoQuartier to create a robust business plan. The aim was to develop a future-proof, innovative and economically viable heating concept - in line with the philosophy of the quarter and using the latest technological approaches.
Several regenerative variants were examined and their technical, economic and ecological feasibility was comprehensively analyzed. These included:
🔧 Technological concepts in focus:
- Biomass heating plants with various fuels:
- pellets,
- forest chips,
- agricultural by-products such as vegetable oil or residual straw
- gas engine CHP solutions based on:
- Biomethane,
- Biogas,
- Power-to-Gas (PtG) approaches
- Heat pump systems with renewably generated electricity (PV/wind)
- Buffer storage technology and sector coupling for the optimal use of fluctuating feed-ins
All proposed models were based on the principle: 100% renewable, low CO₂, future-proof.
