Description
The public buildings, community and leisure halls, leisure pool and schools in Mutlangen received a central heat supply. Heat is mainly generated by a 750 kW biomass firing and boiler system with flue gas cleaning, which is operated with natural wood chips.
The aim was to generate heat in a way that conserves resources, reduces CO2 emissions and falls well below the limits already tightened by the 2009 amendment to the 1st BImSchV, particularly with regard to dust pollution in and around the Schwäbisch Gmünd environmental zone and the medicinal plant gardens there. For aesthetic and logistical reasons, the wood chip bunker and, to a large extent, the heating plant were installed underground with inclined trough chain conveyors. An existing gas CHP plant in Bad Mutlanis was also incorporated. The peak load generation of approx. 1,500 kW was integrated into the former heating plant of the neighboring secondary school.
