Description
We supported the conversion to a solid biomass heating plant for Immenstadt: Since September 1996, a 1,200 kW boiler has been supplying the hospital, school and sports center, kindergartens, apartment blocks and indoor and outdoor swimming pools - all via a district heating network around 25 km long
Our technical building services and network planning made it possible:
- to efficiently connect the building network of public facilities and private households,
- to use regional wood chips, landscaping material and sawmill residue - around 8.500 SrM/year (> 5,600 MWh heat), with a saving of approx. 1,600 t CO₂/a.
Since the network has been growing continuously since 1996, we are currently implementing additional measures: Modernization of the grids, peak load adjustments and a second biomass boiler (3 MW + 2 MW) are being planned - with investments of around €8 million and around 40% subsidy rate.
💡 Why we set standards here
- Overall plant planning: technical building services, grid design, subsidy management - all from a single source
- Regenerative & regional: wood chips from the local community, perfect CO₂ balance and circular economy
- Long-term grid expansion: From 1996 to today - expansion to almost 25 km, expansion concept is available
- Economical & scalable: technology that grows with you - future built
Conclusion: With Immenstadt, we are showing how holistic local heating works - technically excellently planned, locally anchored and ecologically pioneering. Your sign for energy self-sufficient communities: Gammel Engineering delivers heat with system, impact and sustainability!
