Description
At the renowned Forster's Posthotel in Donaustauf, Reinhold and Monika Forster have once again demonstrated what sustainability in the hotel industry means in practice. Gammel Engineering was commissioned to plan and implement a new 35 kW el. / 50 kW th natural gas cogeneration plant - a technologically clever and ecologically efficient step. This highly efficient CHP unit not only stabilizes energy costs, but also gives the hotel a real competitive advantage and makes a sustainable contribution to the corporate strategy.
The combined generation of electricity and heat significantly reduces primary energy requirements and sustainably reduces CO₂ emissions - with an overall efficiency of around 90%. This means that the hotel uses almost every kilowatt hour of gas - efficiently, economically and in a climate-friendly way. Gammel Engineering ensured that the system was designed with the utmost precision, integrated into the building technology and commissioned on schedule - shortly before the deadline of July 31, 2014 - including smooth operation and maximum security of supply.
The use of the CHP unit enables the Posthotel to have a stable supply even in the warmer months of the year, ideally balances out the year-round hot water and electricity requirements and strengthens the hotel's green profile - from the gourmet cuisine to the family-run host business with a Bib Gourmand award.
