As part of the BMW Group's strategic site development, Gammel Engineering was commissioned to plan the technical conversion of an existing storage area for pressing tools. The aim is to convert a section of the hall for the production of vehicle side panels - a challenging transformation that requires the utmost planning care.
Future usage scenarios had to be considered right from the design phase: the adjacent hall areas could also be converted into productive manufacturing areas in the future. Gammel Engineering therefore planned the media supply in a modular and expandable way - with foresight for growth and flexibility.
The logistics for raw materials and finished pressed parts are handled via two newly created gateways. To ensure energy efficiency and climate stability despite frequent opening cycles, our experts designed a climatic airlock at the western hall door and a high-performance air curtain for the eastern door - individually tailored to the traffic frequency, building structure and hall use.
The new use was also comprehensively taken into account in terms of fire protection. Due to the rededication as a production hall, Gammel Engineering adapted the existing comprehensive ceiling sprinkler system to the current "Sprinkler Cadastre for Car Body Construction Technology" directive - with precise hydraulic calculations, documentation and coordination with the relevant safety authorities.
The project is a good example of how Gammel Engineering plans industrial conversion measures with technical depth, regulatory safety and a clear focus on the future.
