In Cham, our team from Gammel Engineering is once again demonstrating how technical excellence and regional value creation work together. We planned and implemented a biomass cogeneration plant for Naturenergie Cham GmbH, which generates a thermal output of 16 MW from natural forest and landscape conservation wood. In combination with an extraction back-pressure steam turbine, the plant supplies the neighboring Goldsteig cheese dairy with process steam and delivers low-temperature heat to the district heating network of Stadtwerke Cham. The system feeds the electricity generated into the public grid in accordance with the EEG - a prime example of efficient, sustainable CHP technology.our engineering team developed the complete energy concept: from project development and planning of the CHP plant and district heating network to integration into the heating systems of the major customers. The tailor-made solution also includes two oil-fired peak-load boilers (10 t/h each), which are available as a standby reserve - technological care down to the last detail The result is impressive: the regeneratively generated heat covers almost 98 % of the network's heating requirements - supplemented by flexible steam extraction for Goldsteig and consistently high security of supply. Electricity and heat are used efficiently, CO₂ emissions are significantly reduced and the regional timber industry benefits - a real win-win scenario for the climate, economy and location.Goldsteig cheese dairy particularly emphasizes the flexible steam supply as a location advantage and praises the technology developed by Gammel Engineering: "This gives us a cost-effective and reliable supply of process steam and heat. "With an investment volume of approx. 20 million, several years of planning and approved implementation, we set standards - as system architects who intelligently network renewable energies, process heat and district heating. Our success as a flagship project in Eastern Bavaria reinforces our mission: decentralized energy systems that make an impact - sustainably, economically and with full engineering enthusiasm.
