Medi GmbH manufactures medical aids in the fields of phlebology, lymphology, orthopaedics, footcare and prosthetics.
For the production site in Bayreuth, Gammel Engineering GmbH carried out a feasibility study for the integration of a CHP or cogeneration plant. The heat generated is primarily required for space heating and hot water in winter. In order to enable year-round operation of the CHP unit, the use of an absorption chiller is also being examined, which can generate cooling from the heat in summer to supply production. The consistently high base load in the electrical energy requirement also enables complete in-house use of the electricity generated in the CHP process.
The results of this study were processed and presented to medi GmbH to support the decision-making process.
