From Barracks to a Climate-Neutral Neighborhood!
In the first phase of development, approximately 600 residential units are to be heated without the use of fossil fuels. But Regensburg isn’t relying on a single heat generator to achieve this.
On the site of the former Prinz-Leopold Barracks, a neighborhood energy system is being built that combines geothermal energy, heat pumps, photovoltaics, and storage.
How are the various components controlled—and what other heat sources could complement the system in the future? The report shows how the energy system is planned and how it is intended to grow along with the neighborhood.
