Following our staff meeting on September 25, 2026, we celebrated Max Schalk’s retirement with a small party and pizza. After 16 years at Gammel Engineering, this event was a wonderful opportunity to look back together and say thank you.
Since joining us in 2010, Max has been far more than just our building maintenance man. As Facility Manager, he took care of our building, the technical systems, the vehicle fleet, and many organizational tasks in our day-to-day operations. Whenever something was stuck, leaking, wobbly, or needed to be fixed on short notice, Max was there.
Max navigated numerous changes and technical developments with great calm, practical expertise, and his unmistakable dry sense of humor.
In his speech, Michael Gammel paid special tribute to Max’s reliability, helpfulness, and positive attitude. He recalled many shared experiences and noted that Max had always been an important point of contact and problem-solver for the entire team.
Over pizza and good conversation, it became clear just how much Max is valued as a colleague and as a person. His friendly nature and willingness to help have shaped the team spirit at Gammel Engineering for many years.
Dear Max, thank you very much for the 16 years we’ve spent together and for your tremendous dedication to our company. We wish you all the best in this new chapter of your life—plenty of time for your family and many pleasant hours in your garden shed. We’ll miss you!

Through the Gammel Family Social Fund, we aim to provide targeted assistance where support is urgently needed. The fund is made up of the proceeds from our internal Christmas party, where an auction is held among our employees every year. During our regular staff meetings, we then work together to gather suggestions for potential recipients—this way, we decide as a team where the donations will go.
With deep sorrow and great respect, we bid farewell to an extraordinary and kind-hearted person who, with his loyal and confident demeanor, was always a role model for the entire company.
