Transmission network

The transmission grid is the part of an electricity grid used to transmit electrical energy over long distances. In order to minimize transmission losses, extra-high voltage grids are used, which have voltages of 220kV and 380kV. Transmission grids are also used to connect very large power generation plants such as wind farms or hydroelectric power plants.
