In order to stabilize the electricity grids, grid operators can control the operation of energy generation plants. This means that if the supply of electricity is too high and the demand for electricity is too low, a plant is throttled back and, in the opposite case, the plant output is increased. This can also lead to a power generation plant being switched off. Feed-in management is regulated by the Energy Industry Act (EnWG) and the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).
