Compressed air reservoir

[CAES = Copmressed Air Energy Storage]

Compressed air energy storage systems use the electricity to be stored to generate compressed air. The compressed air is stored in pressure-stable, gas-tight cavities that are often installed underground. The electricity is converted back into power by a compressed air-driven turbine, which is used to drive a generator. Former salt domes, for example, are also suitable as cavities.
