Similar to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), operators of CHP plants receive additional payments for the electricity generated in accordance with the Combined Heat and Power Act (KWKG). CHP plants are electricity generators in which the heat energy that is forcibly produced can be used at the same time, thereby achieving a significantly higher fuel efficiency compared to conventional power plants. This type of plant is therefore specially subsidized. The remuneration is allocated to the total electricity consumption and thus added to the end consumer's electricity price.
