Expansion of the Schwaiger CHP plant in Hengersberg
On Thursday, November 7, 2013, there was a crucial public meeting of the local council in Hengersberg on the subject of the Schwaiger sawmill development plan amendment. It was touch and go as to whether the expansion of the biomass cogeneration plant and pellet plant at the Schwaiger sawmill by an ORC biomass power plant would be permitted. One of the decisive factors for the final, unanimous decision was that Schwaiger employee and local councillor Roman Preisinger made it clear how important the existing biomass cogeneration plant and pellet plant were for the continued existence of the sawmill with its 165 employees.
Other sawmills missed out on this development and have since disappeared from the market. The second construction phase is also vital for the continued existence of the sawmill and jobs due to the increasing demand for dried construction timber and wood pellets. Gammel Engineering is proud and happy to be able to make a significant contribution to this.
